Heresy

The word heresy referes to any deviation from the orthodox Christian Doctrines. A heresy is not a complete lie but is composed of both truth and lies, in simple terms it is a half truth.

The attack of the Church and its Doctrines is not new today but has been going on since the development of the New Testament. Many famous heretics have questioned the authority of Scripture and some denied the fundamental doctrines of the Church particularly the Deity of Christ. The church did not leave it as a small matter but defended her Faith whenever these heresies were brought up and made it a point to excommunicate those heretics declaring them to be not members of the Church.
